The Akari lamp collection was designed by Japanese designer Isamu Noguchi for the Swiss Vitra, it is a table / floor lamp made of shoji paper and these are all made by hand. Akari is a Japanese word and means brightness and light, but also lightness.
Due to the special shoij paper from which the lamp is made, the somewhat cool light from the light source is converted into a beautiful, warm light. This creates a particularly pleasant atmosphere in every room!
The Akari 14A floor lamp has a base made of lacquered steel. The lamp has a diameter of 51 centimeters wide and a height of 158 centimeters.

The Akari collection consists of many different types of lamps, both floor / table and pendant lamps.
Notes: The lamp may have protruding fibers (fluff). The lamp can be dusted with a feather duster. The lamp must not be exposed to oil and grease vapours, as this may cause stains.
About the designer:
Isamu Noguchi (1904–1988) was a Japanese-American artist and landscape architect best known for his sculptures and furniture, such as the iconic Noguchi table. Isamu, a son of the Japanese poet Yone Noguchi and the American writer Leonie Gilmour, was born in Los Angeles, lived in Japan as a youth and attended Columbia University and Leonardo da Vinci Art School in New York.
In 1927 he founded his first studio and received the Guggenheim Fellowship. Noguchi also spent long periods traveling and studying in Asia, studying brush painting in China and pottery in Japan.
