Arne Jacobsen designed the Ant Chair for the dining room of Novo Nordisk, an international Danish healthcare company. This chair has now become a true icon of Scandinavian design, and is considered by many experts to be the chair with the most influence on design furniture that we know today.
The name of this design comes from the outline of the Ant chair, which resembles an ant with its head raised.
Despite its minimalist shape and simple design, the Ant Chair is remarkably comfortable. The shell is composed of several layers of pressed and shaped veneer wood that give it both strength and perfect elasticity, so that it bends slightly.
The Ant chair originally had three plastic legs and a seat made of laminated veneer. It is now available with steel legs and laminated or upholstered in both a three- and a four-leg version.
In this new variant with the upholstery on the front, there is the possibility to combine materials and colors as you wish. The fabric gives a soft warm appearance and makes the chair even more comfortable if you are going to use the chair for a longer period of time, for example during a dinner.
