A design by French designer Jean Prouvé.
The Cité was designed on the occasion of a competition to furnish the university residence within the Cité Universitaire of Nancy.
This chair quickly distinguished itself by the characteristic sleds in coated sheet steel on which it rests, and these also serve as armrests. The comfortable headrest can be used to further optimize comfort.
Another addition to the comfort of the Cité is the footstool, which can be ordered separately.
The variety of finishes and upholstery in fabric and leather have enriched Cité over time, making the chair perfect for different styles from modern to classic.
In terms of gliders, you can choose from hard (suitable for carpet) or felt gliders (more suitable for the hard floor).
The Cité upholstery in Mello is available in nine colors, including beige, cement or black. The leather upholstery is available in sixteen colours. You can choose from 3 different colors for the base, including deep black and ecru.
The dimensions are: W. 68 x H. 84 x D. 95 cm. The chair has a seat height of 21 cm.
About the designer:
Jean Prouvé (1909-1984) was a French metalworker, engineer and self-taught architect and designer, who had a major influence on European post-war design and design philosophy. Social conscience and good accessibility were essential starting points for Prouvé's designs, which were often based on prefabricated houses, modular systems and mass production.
