The conscious chair is a design from 1958 by the Danish furniture designer and architect Børge Mogensen and designer Esben Klint.

The chair is a good example of typical mid-twentieth century design. The chair is a combination of unique insight and the expertise of the two Danish designers, the chair is very simplistic yet very functional.

Now relaunched for the first time with a different material than the original, Mater has added a sustainable twist to the classic shape. With an FSC wooden frame, the seat and back are made of Mater Circular Materials, an innovative composition that combines coffee or wood waste with industrial plastic waste, giving an attractive and unique surface.

Dimensions: Height: 78.5 cm x Width: 47 cm x Depth: 47 cm / Seat height: 46 cm.

Materials & finishes:
FSC solid oak or beech frame. Backrest and seat made of Mater Circular Material of your choice, either Coffee Waste (70% Plastic Waste, 24% coffee shells and 6% recycled fiberglass) or Wood Waste (70% plastic waste, 20% wood waste and 10% recycled fiberglass).

About the designers:

Borge Mogensen and Esben Klint, two of Denmark's most important and influential figures in design and architecture, created several important pieces of furniture. Borge Mogensen (1914-1972) had a career spanning more than thirty years. He created a wealth of furniture during this time and became head of design at FDB (the Danish cooperative) in 1942 before founding his own design office in 1950.

Esben Klint (1915-1969), son of Le Klint founder Kaare Klint, worked for the royal building inspector Nils Koppel and as an independent architect and designer. With strong roots in design, Klint's talent was reflected in the intricacies behind his many designs. In the 1960s, the Danish duo Mogenson and Klint created, among other things, school furniture.
