The Hay revolt chair brings memories back to our school days in many of us. Friso Kramer designed this chair in the fifties for the Dutch office furniture manufacturer Ahrend, the chair is light and strong and was therefore often produced for use in schools.
At the time, the frame made of sheet steel was regarded as an innovative piece of technology that helped shape a new way of producing. The light, metal base forms a beautiful whole with the pre-shaped oak seat and backrest, which you may have sat on for years as a child / teenager.
The original design has now been re-produced by HAY in collaboration with Ahrend. The industrial chair is just as relevant and useful as the day it first appeared on the market. The strong character of the chair makes it a valuable addition to the home, for example to the dining table.
The dimensions of the Revolt Chair are 45.5 centimeters wide, 81 centimeters high and 49.5 centimeters deep.
A curved sheet steel frame is used instead of a traditional tubular frame. The resilient construction in combination with recycled ABS material was already a pioneer in the field of sustainability in the 1950s. The ergonomic design of the Revolt is dynamic and flexible and moves with the user and offers active support while working, eating or working. Available in different colors.
