In 1953, American designer Alexander Girard created a collection of wooden shapes that depict both humans and animals.
He initially did this for his home in Santa Fe. Today, Girard's colorful collection of wooden shapes is produced by Vitra and continues to be handcrafted and painted. Each wooden figure is therefore unique, even if the differences between them are nil.
Inspired by Girard's passion for South American, Asian and European folk art, these adorable wooden dolls can be used as both decorative items and toys.
The two fish "Mother&Child" are the only reclining figures in the wooden dolls family and are weighted with a metal weight for stability.
