Vitra - Resting Bear

VITRA RESTING BEAR

The Resting Bear by Vitra is a friendly and sweet creature with a knitted surface. In addition to being a decorative piece, Resting Bear also functions as a stool, ottoman, backrest or as a multifunctional children's furniture.

Designed by the Swedish Front for Vitra, the Resting Animals are characterized by a sleepy and smiling feel and the well-thought-out design. The collection was the result of a research project where Front asked people to name some of their most emotionally enriching and meaningful objects - most of the answers came from animals.

The Resting Bear is covered with a knitted fabric and is formed by molded foam. The bear is (just like the resting cat and bird) characteristic of Scandinavian design, which is often minimalistic but also homely.

The designers:

Front is a Swedish design duo formed by Sofia Lagerkvist and Anna Lindgren. Their work places an emphasis on communal discussions, explorations, and the ultimate outcome must communicate a story. Front is also known for surprising and experimental methods, such as creating designs with animals or machines. Front has collaborated with many well-known brands, including Vitra, Tom Dixon, Kartell, Stelton and Swedese, and their work is included in the collections of MoMA, Victoria & Albert Museum and Center Pompidou.
