A 1960 design, the Wegner Ox armchair is a household name in Danish design with the masculine forms: the chair's rugged shapes and exaggerated proportions differed significantly from the simple and understated lines typical of Scandinavian design at the time. The most notable feature of the design is the headrest that resembles an ox's horns - this is where the chair's name comes from.

During his career, Hans J. Wegner designed as many as 500 chair models, and Ox is reportedly one of his personal favorites and a design he also incorporated into his own home. The voluminous shape of the armchair presents a challenge to the manufacturer, as the chair has to be upholstered by hand, requiring not only precision but also physical strength. It takes a whole day to make one chair.

Previously, the Wegner Ox lounge chair was manufactured by A.P. Stolen and Erik Jørgensen, but since 2021 it has been part of the Fredericia collection.

Please note that genuine leather is a natural product. This means that the color and texture may vary from product to product. Aniline leather is also the softest and most natural type of leather and will develop a patina over time and use.
Care instructions:
Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Immediately remove spilled liquids with a soft cloth wrung firmly in cold water. Light stains can be removed with a soft cloth wrung well in water that has been boiled and then cooled to room temperature. Avoid cleaning agents and sharp objects. For further maintenance you can use leather cleaner or cream 1-2 times a year.

Hans J. Wegner (1914-2007) is a world famous Danish designer who is best known for his numerous chair designs. Wegner had a special ability to combine functionality and aesthetics; many of his designs are characterized by playful or poetic features.
