A nice addition to the extensive String Furniture collection of storage shelves is the Tiny Cabinet in walnut, equipped with a hatch door. The Tiny cabinet is very easy to install in an existing String cabinet.
The Tiny cabinet is available in one size with the following dimensions: w28 x d30 x h38 cm. The cabinet fits together with all 30 cm deep wire panels from String® System. The cabinet needs to be placed on top of either a wooden shelf or one of our cabinets and attached to either wire panel. The inside of the lid is dressed in a plate in brushed stainless steel. The inner back wall of the cabinet is dressed in a mirrored plate. The cabinet is delivered unassembled.
The original String shelving unit was designed in 1949 by Nisse Strinning for the String collection of the label of the same name.
The String shelving unit is part of the String Shelf System, a design classic that is considered one of the must-haves in the industry. The String collection from String is a uniquely flexible, combinable and expandable wall system that offers you exactly the individual storage space you need.
Dimensions Tiny cabinet walnut: W28 x H38 x D30 cm. The Tiny cabinet comes flat pack at your home.
About the designer:
Nils "Nisse" Strinning (December 8, 1917 - May 10, 2006) was a Swedish architect and designer.
Strinning was born in Kramfors and came from a Swedish family that originated in Ångermanland in the 16th century. The name was adopted at the beginning of the 20th century by the family farm "Strinningen" north of Härnösand.
Nisse Strinning was best known for the String bookshelf system that he and his wife, the designer Kajsa Strinning, designed in 1949 for a competition initiated by Bonnier, a leading Swedish magazine.
In the 1940s he studied architecture at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm (KTH). As a student, he designed a drainer consisting of plastic-coated metal wires. The drainer, which was called elfa (not to be confused with electronics company ELFA), became very popular and started when he and his wife created the famous String shelf.
Nisse and Kajsa Strinning are rightly seen as icons of Scandinavian modern design and the String Shelving System as a modern contemporary design classic.
