The beautiful Louvre lamp is a design by Poul Henningsen from 1957, and was for the Adventist Church in Skodsborg.
The spherical luminaire consists of 13 lampshades mounted on four supports. It is a simplification of an earlier lamp that Poul Henningsen designed in 1942, called the Spiral.
The lamp provides 100% glare-free light. The geometric, spherical design is based on the principle of illuminating all surfaces at the same angle. This ensures an even light around the fixture, illuminating both the walls and the ceiling.
Matt lacquered bottom surfaces and glossy top surfaces ensure a beautiful reflection of the diffuse light, creating an even light distribution around the luminaire.

About the designer: Poul Henningsen,
The Danish left-wing writer, architect and designer Poul Henningsen (1894-1967) saw electric light as a way to enlighten people by improving the living and working environment. After extensive studies on glare-free lamps with multiple lampshades, electrical appliance manufacturer Louis Poulsen enabled him to create the first PH lamp in 1926. The PH lamp was an instant success, being sold and used all over the world, including the Bauhaus Dessau building.
