About the designer:
Marcel Gascoin (1907-1986) is known as one of the leading designers of post-war France. Driven by his social conscience and aptitude for combining austere aesthetics with rational production processes, Gascoin played an important role in rebuilding the country.
During the post-war housing crisis, Gascoin was employed by the French Ministry of Reconstruction and Urbanism to design homes and elegant yet functional furnishings, many of which have since become sought-after design classics.
