Metal is the material is paramount in the design for Model 566 by designer Gino Sarfatti. The reduction process resulted in a design luminaire with a balanced and elementary form.
The lamp housing is cleverly supported by a simple rubber ring, which provides the perfect amount of friction for infinite adjustment. The base, which was originally made of cast iron, is now made of an alloy of aluminum, magnesium and copper, which offers better resistance to corrosion, does not cause air pollution during production and is recyclable.
The design is enhanced by a well-known push button on/off switch integrated into the base, which is again characteristic of Gino Sarfatti.

About the designer :
Born in Venice in 1912, Gino Sarfatti studied to become an aeronautical engineer until family circumstances forced him to move to Milan, where he was first introduced to lighting, an engineering project to turn a glass vase into a lamp. This encounter with lighting design and technology formed the path of his life. In 1939 Gino Sarfatti founded his company Arteluce, which brought lighting into the 20th century by combining innovative ideas with groundbreaking design.
