String Pocket Cabinet.

Design by Swedish designer Nils Strinning in 1949.

The String Pocket wall cabinet is best described as an all-round storage unit for every room, a practical design that allows you to realize many handy arrangements in the kitchen, next to your bed or in the living room, for example. The String wall cabinet is a design by Swedish designer Nisse Strinning from 1949 and is still current and popular due to its minimalist character and functionality.

The String Pocket is available as one package in different colors and materials.

The String Pocket system contains 2 wall brackets and 3 wooden shelves. The flexible and versatile String system is ideal for the kitchen, bathroom, home office, children's room or living room.

The String Pocket wall cabinet consists of 2 brackets that can be easily attached to the wall. The three shelves can be placed at different heights, creating your own style of cupboard at your own discretion.

The shelves are available in oak, walnut, ash or teak veneer.

Dimensions: H 50 x W 60 x D 15 cm. Indoor use only. 2 year guarantee.

About the designer:

Nils "Nisse" Strinning (December 8, 1917 - May 10, 2006) was a Swedish architect and designer.

Strinning was born in Kramfors and came from a Swedish family that originated in Ångermanland in the 16th century. The name was adopted at the beginning of the 20th century by the family farm "Strinningen" north of Härnösand.

Nisse Strinning was best known for the String bookshelf system that he and his wife, the designer Kajsa Strinning, designed in 1949 for a competition initiated by Bonnier, a leading Swedish magazine.

In the 1940s he studied architecture at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm (KTH). As a student, he designed a drainer consisting of plastic-coated metal wires. The drainer, which was called elfa (not to be confused with electronics company ELFA), became very popular and started when he and his wife created the famous String shelf.

Nisse and Kajsa Strinning are rightly seen as icons of Scandinavian modern design and the String Shelving System as a modern contemporary design classic.
