The Vitra Polder Sofa by Hella Jongerius has become a modern icon of the Dutch industrial designer.
The Polder sofa was first introduced by Vitra in 2005 and is renowned for its careful combination of comfort, color and texture.
At one end of the sofa is a low armrest, while at the other end the sofa is bordered by a platform that can serve as handy storage space for your books or trays. You can also use the platform as an ottoman, so it can also be used as your own separate stool.

Back cushions made of polyurethane foam with polyester fleece and chamber cushions. Removable armrest support, freely positionable and sand-weighted. Covers in coordinated combinations of different shades and fabrics (Aura, Volo, Canvas, Cozy 2, Credo and Dumet), with matching color-coordinated buttons.
About the designer:
Dutch industrial designer Hella Jongerius was born in 1963 in de Meern, the Netherlands. She studied at the Academy of Industrial Design in Eindhoven and first gained fame in 1993 as a member of the renowned Dutch design group Droog Design. In 2000 she started her own Rotterdam design agency under the company name 'JongeriusLab'.
JongeriusLab creates a unique collection of products including contemporary ceramics, textiles, crockery and modern furniture. Her works deliberately show the traces of how they were made, embracing imperfections and unusual mixtures of materials and techniques.
