The Fritz Hansen PK60 coffee table by Poul Kjaerholm has a beautiful interplay of lines was influenced by other designers like Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth and Jean Arp, and in particular the Japanese sculptor Isamu Noguchi.

The table has a transparent glass top that beautifully highlights the sculptural shape of the base, which is formed by three interlocking pieces in black stained ash or Douglas fir, formed by the typical Scandinavian technique of steam bending.

About the designer:

Praised for his distinctive style of furniture design, Poul Kjaerholm was born in Øster Vrå, Denmark in 1929. His pieces are considered to have a minimalist and articulate form, all embossed with a style that is still famous all over the world.

Kjaerholm started in 1948 in Gronbech's workshop and began his ideology in the Danish School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen.

Awarded the prestigious Lunning Prize in 1958 and the Trennali Grand Prix in Milan in 1960, Kjaerholm's drawings can be seen in the permanent collections of the New York Museum of Modern Art, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
