The PK0 A chair was designed at the same time as the PK60 table. As with the latter, the chair also has a beautiful interplay of lines and there are influences from Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth and Jean Arp, and in particular the Japanese sculptor Isamu Noguchi.

The Pk60 and the PK0 A are designed to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Fritz Hansen, this is the "special Anniversary collection" of which the PK60 Coffee table and the PK0 A chair are part. Poul Kjærholm's signature design style is evident in the PK0 A chair thanks to careful attention to material, functionality and beautiful aesthetics.

The PK0 A chair, designed in 1952, is one of Poul Kjærholm's rare wooden pieces of furniture. Famous for his highly refined steel creations, the Danish designer designed this small lounge chair at the start of his career, when he just joined Fritz Hansen.

The PK0 A chair shows the talent of Kjærholm, who managed to create a piece that is completely in light geometry with the natural material that is a priori much less suitable than steel. Only about 600 copies were in circulation before Fritz Hansen reissued it to mark his 150th anniversary.

About the designer:

Praised for his distinctive style of furniture design, Poul Kjaerholm was born in Øster Vrå, Denmark in 1929. His pieces are considered to have a minimalist and articulate form, all embossed with a style that is still famous all over the world.

Kjaerholm started in 1948 in Gronbech's workshop and began his ideology in the Danish School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen.

Awarded the prestigious Lunning Prize in 1958 and the Trennali Grand Prix in Milan in 1960, Kjaerholm's drawings can be seen in the permanent collections of the New York Museum of Modern Art, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
