The round side/coffee table 90D by Alvar Aalto is made of beautiful Finnish birch wood and exudes natural beauty and warmth
The Artek table was designed by Finnish designer Alvar Aalto in 1935.
The table is durable and will age beautifully and elegantly over time, becoming a lasting piece in your home. As with all Aalto products, Table 90D is still handcrafted according to strict criteria and with a high level of craftsmanship. The table is available in different colors and finishes.
Artek tables are based on different combinations of Alvar Aalto's L-legs and table tops. Aalto first introduced the curved L-leg in 1933 and became a standard component in his furniture designs. The development of the L-leg was revolutionary because the problem of attaching legs directly to the table top was solved in a completely new way – the leg could be attached directly to the table top with screws and the result was a simple but very solid construction .
The 90D is based on the original L-leg system and has the recognizable simplicity that characterizes Alvar Aalto's designs.

The designer :
Alvar Aalto (1898-1976) is the most famous Finnish architect and designer in the world. In 1921, Alvar Aalto graduated in architecture from the Helsinki Institute of Technology and began his career as an architect. One of the most important works he was awarded was the planning of the tuberculosis sanatorium in Paimio, Finland. This project also marked the beginning of Aalto's career as a furniture designer - in fact, this was the first building planned by Aalto to be completely furnished with furniture designed by Aalto himself - including the lighting. Other important projects completed by Alvar Aalto include the Municipal Library of Viipuri, Villa Mairea, La Maison Carré and the Finnish pavilions for the 1937 Paris and 1939 New York World's Fairs.
