The original Pira Shelf, was designed in 1954, by Olle Pira (1927-2018) he was a traditional master cabinetmaker who worked according to time-honored skills and materials such as cherry, maple and mature oak. Now a modern version is available with the help of well-known designers Anna von Schewen & Björn Dahlström.
Architect Anna von Schewen and industrial designer Björn Dahlström have taken on the challenge of bringing the Pira-C2 back to life.
The Pira G2 is actually a work of art that is destined to become the focal point of your home, wherever it is placed. Each shelf can hold up to 50 kg thanks to the sheet steel construction with the integrated edge. Strong enough for your collections of books, souvenirs or other treasures of your life.
The Pira G2 is the sum of many parts. An interlocking series of joints, stiles, flats and triangles, each no more than a meter in length, but expandable to reach most ceilings from any floor. The machining tolerances have been reduced to 0.02 mm.
Modular, but assembled it seems to be built as one unit. Like a beautiful centerpiece without joints, beginning and end.
The metalwork of the Pira G2 is timeless, the bookends and cupboards made of walnut and white oak give a homely atmosphere.
The Pira G2 is available freestanding (Floor-ceiling= FC) as well as mounted on the wall (W).
