This beloved lamp series, designed by Birger Dahl, has been a popular Norwegian collector's item for years. After its original launch and as part of the post-war so-called "democratic design wave" from Scandinavia, the lamp achieved a high status early on as a relatively inexpensive, yet highly functional and attractive luminaire.

About the designer:
Born in the town of Moss, Norway, Birger Dahl (1916–1998) is regarded as one of Scandinavia's leading post-war interior designers. He was educated at the Norwegian National School of Arts and Crafts (SHKS) in Oslo and was one of the first students to be tutored by Arne Korsmo.
In 1947 Dahl became a teacher at SHKS and in the period from 1945 to 1957 he also worked as chief designer for Sønnico (Oslo). The most important aspects of his work and design philosophy is to promote lighting as honest, logical and functional. His motto was : The light object must always be in complete harmony with the surrounding people and architecture.
