Artek's Side Table 606, designed by Aino Aalto in 1932, can be used as a table or a stackable stool - it was originally used as a stool to change shoes.

Aino Aalto designed this versatile side table while working on the Paimio Sanatorium project he did with Alvar Aalto. Thanks to the streamlined, three-quarter steel base, side table 606 is easy to pull close to your armchair, sofa or bed.

Now Artek introduced the Side Table 606 in two new colors to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Paimio Sanatorium. The mint green hue can be found in the ceilings of the patient rooms and reading rooms of the sanatorium.

About the designer:

Aino Aalto (1894-1949) was a well-known Finnish architect and designer. She studied architecture at the Technical University of Helsinki, like her husband, the famous founder of Artek Alvar Aalto. In 1923 she joined Gunnar A. Wahlroos' office, Jyväskylä, and the following year she transferred to Alvar Aalto's office.
