The Gubi 9209 table lamp, is an impressive design by Paavo Tynell, one of the most renowned industrial designer and metalworker of the 20th century.
Appropriately named "Kypara", which means "helmet" in Finnish, the 9209 table lamp from Gubi has a uniquely shaped shade made of spun brass that resembles a helmet in shape. Expertly held in place by a curved brass arm, the shade is adorned with subtle triangular perforations, a signature Tynell decorative element painstakingly achieved through expert precision and specialized punching tools.
The perforations provide a beautiful star-like sparkle and create a soft glow as they direct the light downwards. Illuminate your living room with this beautiful table lamp that exudes a certain elegance, and it is also functional.

About the designer.
Paavo Tynell was a Finnish-born industrial designer who specialized in lighting design. He started his career as a tinsmith in Helsinki and quickly developed into a talented blacksmith. Together with fellow designers, Tynell founded Taito AB in 1918, a metalworking company that produced industrial lighting and other metal objects for various industries.
By 1930 the company decided to concentrate exclusively on industrial lighting, such was their expertise and reputation in this field. This led Tynell to a lifelong career in lighting design, eventually producing many iconic designs that last to this day, such as the 1965 pendant lamp, now produced by Danish interior design experts Gubi.
