The Grand Palais coffee table is made of stained ash and ash veneer and is part of the Palais collection, designed by Anya Sebton & Eva Lilja Löwenhielm for Asplund. While the collection is a good example of modern Scandinavian simplicity, it also exudes the luxury and elegance of ancient palaces, as the collection is inspired by the splendor of castles and palaces of days gone by with their columns, plinths and wood panelling.
The shapes and names of the furniture are also inspired by Daniel Buren's art installation called Les Deux Plateaus, located in the courtyard of the Palais Royal in Paris.
