The Fritz Hansen Ant Dining Chair is a design classic by Arne Jacobsen, which has now been transformed with great ingenuity into a luxurious chair for children; Ant Childrens Chair 3101.
Arne Jacobsen designed the Ant Chair for the dining room of Novo Nordisk, an international Danish healthcare company. This chair has now become a true icon of Scandinavian design, and is considered by many experts to be the chair with the greatest aesthetic influence on design furniture that we know today.
Despite its minimalist shape and simple design, the Ant Chair is remarkably comfortable. The shell is composed of several layers of pressed and shaped veneer wood that give it both strength and perfect elasticity, so that it bends slightly.
The Ant™ chair’s visual expression is delicate and artful, much like the curves of a musical instrument. Designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1952, the chair is made from nine layers of pressure moulded veneer. Its elegant shape disguises its remarkable strength and comfort. The Ant™ Children’s Chair is a perfectly scaled down version of Jacobsen’s iconic design. The Ant Children’s Chair is the perfect introduction to a lifetime of beautiful, long-lasting design. The chair is stackable with other Arne Jacobsen Children's chairs.
The base is made of 14 mm chrome-plated steel tubes resting on synthetic shock absorbers.
The chair has an instantly recognizable shape for everyone and it has been expertly crafted from nine layers of pressure molded veneer, creating an extremely durable and long lasting seat shell.
This lacquered variant of the Ant chair has a dense, smooth surface with no visible wood grains and is available in a wide range of contemporary colours, and is perfect for use around your dining/kitchen table.

About the designer:
It is said that as a child growing up in Copenhagen, Arne Jacobsen painted over the Victorian wallpaper in his bedroom. But young Arne did not cover his walls with typical childish drawings or paint the ornate wallpaper boyish blue. Instead, he decided to paint his room entirely white. His decision may seem commonplace today, but in the early twentieth century white walls were not yet in fashion. From the very beginning, Arne Jacobsen was ahead of his time.
