In honor of the 70th anniversary of this true design classic, Northern has redesigned the iconic Birdy table lamp by Birger Dahl in a contemporary brushed aluminum version.
The original Birdy table lamp is a timeless design by Birger Dahl, originally produced and sold by the Norwegian electricity company Sonnico. The Birdy was immediately recognized for its stylish, elegant appearance and won the coveted Gold Medal at the 1954 Milan Triennale.
Now, in honor of the 70th anniversary of this lamp, a version with a shade, base and handle made of brushed aluminum, which is both wonderfully tactile and visually striking.
Northern produces just 500 Birdy lights, each individually numbered. The lamp retains its functionality and bold silhouette, with the characteristic tilting arm and beautifully designed conical shade.

About the designer:
Birger Dahl (1916–1998) was born in the town of Moss, Norway and is considered one of Scandinavia's most important post-war interior architects. He trained at the Norwegian National School of Arts and Crafts (SHKS) in Oslo and was one of the first students to be mentored and mentored by Arne Korsmo.
In 1947 Dahl became a teacher at SHKS and in the period from 1945 to 1957 he also worked as chief designer for Sønnico (Oslo). The most important aspects of his work and design philosophy are to promote lighting as honest, logical and functional.
