The Hashira series is a design by Norm Architects for Audo Copenhagen. These textile lamps, which take their name from the Japanese word for column or pillar, fill the room/hall/corridor with a cozy ambient light. The lamp is a modern, Scandinavian interpretation of the traditional Japanese rice lantern.
The lamp has a shade that is handmade with a beige-colored textile. This way, the lamp provides a very atmospheric diffuse ambient light. A sleek steel line is incorporated in the shade that keeps the textile in place and at the same time adds a graphic effect to the lamp.
This perfectly balanced light works well in both classic and contemporary environments, on its own or in a cluster, both in residential and commercial spaces.
The lamp has a welded steel frame with a handmade rough slub linen shade.
Dimensions: Ø18 × L140 cm.
Light source (included; Replaceable dimmable LED 16 W / 380 lm 2700K
The lamp is part of a collection of table, floor and pendant lamps.
About the designers:
Norm Architects is a dynamic design duo consisting of Danish architects Kasper Rønn (b. 1976) and Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen (b. 1976), both graduates of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. As true modernists, they believe in design that focuses on fulfilling a real need rather than creating it. This is reflected in their work as architects and industrial designers.
