The Sorpresa pendant light by Astep, designed by Samuel Wilkinson, is quite large but looks enchantingly airy and has a beautiful interior.

While most oversized lamps require some assembly, Sorpresa is ready to use straight out of the box: thanks to the ingenious frame mechanism, the lamp unfolds straight out of the packaging, ready to be hung in your home.

The Sorpresa’s shade is made from recycled and recyclable materials and is made from a mesh fabric that diffuses the light evenly, beautifully showcasing the geometric contours of the expertly assembled oak frame. At one metre wide, Sorpresa is an impressive choice for lighting above a dining table or in your living room - it works particularly well in larger rooms where the lamp has plenty of open space.

About the designer:

Englishman Samuel Wilkinson graduated from Ravensbourne College of Art & Design in 2002. During his time at Ravensboure he won several awards for his work. After graduating he worked for companies such as Tangerine, Fitch:London and Conran and took part in many award-winning projects for clients such as British Airways, Audi and Samsung.
