Lobby Chair ES 105
Charles & Ray Eames, 1960
The structural design of the Lobby Chair makes it comparable to the Lounge Chair in terms of comfort. It consists of three individual cushions joined together by aluminium side frames. The armchair was originally conceived to furnish lobby areas in New York’s Time Life Building. In the following years, different versions were created that all have one fundamental thing in common: exceptional comfort.
The Lobby Chair is available in several different versions.
The Lobby Chair is related to the Lounge Chair in terms of construction, and is just as comfortable. It consists of three separate cushions that are connected by metal side pieces. This armchair was originally designed for the lobby of the Time Life Building in New York. In the years that followed, various versions were created that all have one thing in common: exceptional seating comfort. The Lobby Chair is available in three versions: the ES 104 swivel office chair, the ES 108 conference chair on gliders, and the wider and lower ES 105 armchair for lobbies and waiting areas.
The chair is as elegant as it is comfortable and will always be "in style" in your home or office.

About the designers:
Ray and Charles Eames were an American designer couple whose name is known to anyone with an interest in modern design. Charles Eames was born in 1907 in St. Louis, Missouri. He studied architecture at the University of Washington and, at the invitation of the Finnish architect Eliel Saarinen, continued his studies at the Cranbrook Academy of Arts, Michigan in 1940.
There he met Eero Saarinen, with whom he entered a competition called " Organic Design in Home Decor" organized by MoMA in New York. Eames and Saarinen won the competition using a plywood molding technique originally developed by Alvar Aalto. In Cranbrook, Charles Eames also met her future wife Ray, and the couple married in 1941.
