Paavo Tynell designed the A1965 pendant originally in 1948 for New York’s Finland House, an ambitious project of showcasing Finnish design in America. The A1965 pendant features a large, beautifully shaped metal shade that provides a warm light, softened by the frosted glass diffuser.
The shade is decorated with triangular perforation pattern that gives a vivid sparkle also for the outer surface of the lamp. Due to the counterweighted suspension mechanism, the height of the A1965 lamp is adjustable. The luminaire is part of the Paavo Tynell collection released in 2018 by the Danish design brand Gubi.
