Finnish lighting designer Paavo Tynell designed the 9602 floor lamp for Hotel Aulanko in Hämeenlinna, Finland in 1935. The lamp is characterized by a wide shade resembling a traditional Chinese hat, and a sleek, rattan-covered stem, contrasted with shiny brass in the base and on top of the lampshade. The 9602 lamp is a fine example of Tynell's ability to turn lighting into art and seamlessly combine different materials. This floor lamp is part of the Paavo Tynell collection that was re-released in 2018 by the Danish design brand Gubi.
