The Bat Dining Chair, designed by Danish-Italian design-duo Gam Fratesi, carries strong references to the interesting characteristics of bats, with its inviting, distinctive shell reminiscent of the shape of a bat’s wingspan.

Balancing between the traditional and surprising, the Bat Dining Chair is created with a Scandinavian approach to crafts, simplicity and functionalism while also
carrying a strong embedded story and associations expressed in a minimalist idiom. The wide range of upholstery options and different bases makes the Bat Dining Chair fit perfectly into a variety of public and private contexts.

Beetle & Bat in recycled plastic.

In a major step towards more responsible production, GUBI has redeveloped GamFratesi’s beloved designs using a recycled-plastic composite. Utilizing advanced technology and customized material blends comprising over 50% recycled plastic, GUBI has been able to make production significantly more responsible, while retaining the same quality and performance as virgin plastic. Every variant of both Beetle and Bat will now be available in the new material – a leap forward in GUBI’s journey towards phasing out virgin plastic.

The resulting chairs look as good and perform as well as they always have, while halving the virgin materials required, leading to a significant reduction in GUBI’s environmental impact. At the end of the chairs’ lives, the Beetle and Bat’s constituent plastic can be recycled endlessly, closing the loop on the circular economy.
