The Gubi A1965 pendant lamp is modern and elegant and deserves all the attention. The bronze, cylindrical counterweight of the lamp can be used to determine the height of the lamp, but is also a beautiful decorative element at the same time.
Paavo Tynell originally designed the 1965 lamp in 1948 for the Finland House in New York, an ambitious project to showcase Finnish design in America. The lamp from 1965 has a large, beautifully shaped copper shade that provides a warm light, softened by the frosted glass diffuser.
The copper shade is decorated with a triangular perforation pattern that also gives a lively sparkle to the outside of the lamp. The luminaire is part of the Paavo Tynell collection released in 2018 by the Danish design brand Gubi.
