Hay Nelson Collection - Nelson Apple Bubble Pendant medium

NELSON APPLE BUBBLE LAMP.

This hanging lamp by Hay the Nelson apple Bubble is a design by George Nelson. Hay re-introduced this series in collaboration with Herman Miller, this series of lamps were originally designed in 1947.

The atypical shape of the lamp is made up of a steel frame, over which a coating of plastic polymer is sprayed. This surface coating is in between transparent and opaque, giving the lamp a warm friendly glow. The ring at the top and bottom of the lamp is made of coated and polished nickel. Comes with a white PVC cable and steel ceiling plate.

About the designer:

George Nelson (1908–1986) was an American architect and designer who is considered as one of the greatest American designers of the mid-twentieth century. Nelson studied at Yale University and in Rome, where he became familiar with European architecture and design. After returning to the United States, Nelson started working at Herman Miller, where he quickly took the position of Design Director.
