The Nelson Bell Bubble pendant lamp by Hay is part of the Nelson Bubble Lamp series, a group of lamps with elegant, spherical silhouettes that spread a pleasant light.

This extra-large lamp fills a room with soft, diffused light as it floats above your head, suspended from a sturdy steel ceiling plate.

Designer George Nelson was inspired by a set of silk-covered Swedish pendant lamps he saw hanging in 1952.

About the designer:

George Nelson (1908–1986) was an American architect and designer who is considered one of the greatest American designers of the mid-twentieth century. Nelson studied at Yale University and in Rome, where he became familiar with European architecture and design. After returning to the United States, Nelson joined Herman Miller, where he soon assumed the position of Design Director.
