Sun key ring by Alexander Girard for Vitra.
Recognized as one of the leading figures of post-war American design, Alexander Girard, along with Charles and Ray Eames and George Nelson, became known for his graphic and often abstract designs.
Girard brought a touch of playfulness to twentieth century design - something that was missing from the austere aesthetics of classical modernism.
In 1993, he bequeathed many of those objects to the Vitra Design Museum, along with the contents of his studio, including hundreds of drawings, prototypes and samples. One of the graphic designs owned by the museum depicts a smiling sun. It was designed by Alexander Girard for various applications. In collaboration with the Girard family, Vitra has selected them as the motif for this brass key ring.
