The Lantern "is an iconic product of Le Klint, a design from 1944. This is one of the most detailed of the Le Klint lamps. Designed by the Danish architect and designer Kaare Klint.
The lamp spreads a nice diffuse non-glare light.
Unique and fascinating, it is the perfect combination of design, technology and craftsmanship. Due to its round and closed shape, it is ideal for hanging high, because it gently spreads the light source in all directions.
The lamp was renewed in 2007 by the Danish designer Kim Weckstrom Jensen, who made larger versions in PVC sheets.
Materials shade in PVC or sheet of paper, 101XL pendant lamp, brushed steel, brass or copper mounting ring
Light source E27, including bulb.
The designer:
Kaare Klint was born in Denmark in 1888. He studied painting at the college in Frederiksberg and then architecture and design at the technical school in Copenhagen. In 1920 Klint founded his own design and architecture office. Four years later he founded the furniture department of the Royal Academy of Arts in Copenhagen.
In addition to his career as an architect and designer, Kaare Klint teaches at the Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. Klint systematized a people-centered approach that formed the basis of Danish modernism. He set standards in construction and created a form of storage rationalization. Without it, Danish design wouldn't be what it is today.
Kaare Klint's creations are recognizable by their simple curves, clean lines and noble materials such as Cuban mahogany. The armchair "Safari" is one of its showpieces. She has inspired many designers around the world.
