The Unikko cushion cover from Finnish Marimekko comes to life with Maija Isola’s iconic floral pattern in serene off-white tones. Perfect for both your sofa and bed, this square Unikko cushion cover is jacquard-woven from a cotton-linen blend made from recycled and organic materials, giving the surface a beautifully textured finish.

The iconic Unikko pattern came into being in 1964 after Armi Ratia, the founder of Marimekko, publicly announced that Marimekko would no longer produce floral fabrics. Textile designer Maija Isola, however, didn’t like rules or restrictions – in protest, she designed an entire collection of striking floral patterns. One of them was called Unikko, Finnish for “poppy”, and it quickly became a favourite of Ratia’s too.

The cushion cover is made in Helsinki, Finland and is made of unbleached cotton fabric.

Care instructions
Machine wash at 40°C. Follow the recommended temperature.
About the designer:

Finnish print designer Maija Louekari (1982) is best known for the textile prints designed for Marimekko. Louekari studied at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki, and in 2003 she won a design competition jointly organised by her university and Marimekko.
