Design by Studio Kaksikko.
Muuto's Mere Bowl appears to be floating on your table, enhanced by the shadows it creates on the surface.
The Mere Bowl is a sculptural centerpiece, one that looks beautiful in a tablescape or space whether it is in use or not. Its characteristic shape is simple yet ingenious, as a line down its middle folds out to the sides forming a bowl. Elevated by a discrete foot, it looks as if floating. Manufactured in tactile ceramic stoneware, it has been coated in a high-gloss glaze that enhances the shadows that form along Mere Bowl’s fold. This surface treatment makes the bowl food safe.

About the duo designers:
Studio Kaksikko is a Helsinki-based design studio that specializes in ceramic tableware and wooden furniture, founded by Salla Luhtasela and Wesley Walters. The duo shares an interest in functional, understated forms that highlight each material’s tactile qualities, as well as in the production process itself. They met while studying at Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture and have collaborated on a broad range of professional projects under the studio name Kaksikko.
"We consider ourselves “form-givers” before designers, and our process of working with our hands from an early stage has a large influence on the designs that we create. We also produce our own designs by hand in small series, so our familiarity with wood and ceramics lends both an attention to detail and a practicality to our designs that reflects our understanding of these materials. We share a desire to design and make things that people will use until they wear out."
