Design by Alexander Girard for the Swiss Vitra.
Vitra has been making eye-catching and functional furniture and accessories for home and work since their inception. In addition to working with contemporary designers, the label also re-releases style classics from the 20th century. Alexander Girard, a colleague of Charles and Ray Eames, was probably best known for his textile and graphic design, much of it of whimsical quality. His work is exhibited worldwide, including at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
The Metal Wall Relief series was originally designed in 1966 for Girard's home and restaurant in Santa Fe, California.
The playful design of the Metal Wall Relief Heart is characteristic of the work of Alexander Girard. He liked to add a special twist to his designs, in response to the serious aesthetics of classical modernism. This one is to be used as Alexander Girard himself did: as a beautiful decorative item that is sure to bring a smile on even the gloomiest of days.
The Metal Wall Relief Little Heart measures 27 x 24 cm and is 2.2 cm deep, it is made of metal.
The packaging contains all the mounting material so that hanging is quite easy.
