A design by Charles and Ray Eames from 1986.
Soft Pad Chaise ES 106 is a chaise longue designed by Charles & Ray Eames for Vitra. The impetus for the design of the Soft Pad Chaise came from an old friend of Charles and Ray Eames: the film director Billy Wilder.

There he met Eero Saarinen, with whom he entered a competition called "Organic Design in Home Furnishing" organized by the MoMA in New York. Eames and Saarinen won the competition using a plywood molding technique originally developed by Alvar Aalto Charles Eames also met his future wife Ray in Cranbrook, and the couple married in 1941.
