String - Living room K combination - wood.

Design by Nils Strinning from 1946.

The wall cabinet is made up of various separate parts. If you choose this combination, you have the ideal bookcase for the living room. The nice thing about this series of cupboards is that it consists of separate elements, so you have the option to adjust the height and width to your own wishes.

The basis of configuration K is formed by:

Dimensions: 156 x 30 x 200 cm (W x D x H)
Frame material: metal
Shelf/cabinet material: lacquered MDF
Layout: 6 shelves, 3 floor panels, 1 cabinet with sliding doors, 1 magazine shelf
Designer: Nisse Strinning
Warranty: 2 years

The shelves are made of colored MDF and come in white, beige and grey. The long metal panels/brackets can be finished in white, black, beige or grey metal.

The depth of the cabinet is only 30 centimeters, so it fits quickly in different places.

About the designer:

Nils "Nisse" Strinning (December 8, 1917 - May 10, 2006) was a Swedish architect and designer.

Strinning was born in Kramfors and came from a Swedish family that originated in Ångermanland in the 16th century. The name was adopted at the beginning of the 20th century by the family farm "Strinningen" north of Härnösand.

Nisse Strinning was best known for the String bookshelf system that he and his wife, the designer Kajsa Strinning, designed in 1949 for a competition initiated by Bonnier, a leading Swedish magazine.

In the 1940s he studied architecture at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm (KTH). As a student, he designed a drainer consisting of plastic-coated metal wires. The drainer, which was called elfa (not to be confused with electronics company ELFA), became very popular and started when he and his wife created the famous String shelf.

Nisse and Kajsa Strinning are rightly seen as icons of Scandinavian modern design and the String Shelving System as a modern contemporary design classic.
