Kay Bojesen could create original stories in wood like no other.
He could bring wood to life. Or as he put it himself: “The line must smile”.
And that also applies to the entire series of wooden figures – each is more ironic than the last. Just look at this special red and white Tivoli edition of the little Drummer, which, like all famous Guardsmen, is inspired by one of Denmark's national symbols on Amalienborg Palace Square.
Kay Bojesen first created the soldiers in 1940 in honor of King Christian X's 70th birthday, as a tribute to the Danish king. The small Tivoli Drummer is turned in FSC®-certified beech wood and the manual production with painting and printing is carried out with the great precision and care typical of Kay Bojesen's wooden figurines.
It is a perfect gift for special occasions such as anniversaries, weddings, baptisms and birthdays.
Note: Be careful when placing the drum sticks. Gently roll the drum sticks into the drummer's hand with both hands.

About the designer,
Bojesen himself has adhered to the mantra all his life that good design should be human, warm and lively: "They should remind you of a circus," is how he usually described his works, of which the charming wooden figures are among the most popular.
With his user-friendly and modern design language, Kay Bojesen is one of the greatest Danish functionalists. In his naive designs, form and object, seriousness and play flow into each other. At the same time, Bojesen had the unique ability to bring wood to life, which has made his works international design icons.
