GUBI's Tropique (outdoor) table exudes an atmosphere of glamor and luxury, especially those of the past. The table, designed by Mathieu Matégot in 1951, consists of a slim, playfully curved metal frame and a perforated table top that allows sunlight to pass through and creates beautiful patterns on the floor when used outdoors.
The Tropique collection was designed in the 1950s and relaunched by GUBI as part of the GUBI goes al fresco range. Though out of production for decades, Tropique remains one of the few collections that most shaped Matégot's early career with its decadent aesthetic inspired by life on the Côte d'Azur in the mid-20th century - the furniture series is reminiscent of champagne luxury hotels, champagne towers and indescribably beautiful views of the Mediterranean.
