The Vitra Favela miniature was designed by Fernando & Humberto Campana.
The Favela miniature from Vitra is made from small rectangular pieces of wood that are glued and/or nailed together.
Favela is a word often used to describe a typical Brazilian slum. The Favela chair is named after this because it is made from many pieces of natural wood.
The chair has a width of 11.5 centimeters, a depth of 10.5 centimeters and a height of 12.5 centimeters.
Note: the scale of the miniature is 1:6.
Miniaturization means concentration: Vitra Design Museum faithfully recreates furniture design classics in miniaturized three-dimensional form. Many of these designs, such as Le Corbusier's chaise longue or Gerrit Rietveld's red and blue chair, are today as widely known as the most celebrated works of art and are coveted by museums and collectors around the world. These miniatures illustrate at a glance what design means and what role it plays in the industrial production process.
