Artek’s Aalto stool 60 Celebration is a stool that lives up to its name – and for good reason. In 2025, Finnish furniture manufacturer Artek is celebrating its 90th anniversary with a collection of special edition pieces.
The first of these anniversary collections brings together two cultural icons: Artek’s timeless furniture and the beloved Moomins by Tove Jansson, whose very first Moomin story was published exactly 80 years ago.
The Aalto stool was first presented in 1933 and caused a sensation in the design world at the time thanks to its revolutionary L-leg construction. In honor of this double milestone, the classic stool now features laser-engraved early illustrations and handwritten texts by Tove Jansson, playfully reminiscent of secret scribbles under an old school desk.
The Artek + Moomin collection is a tribute to Finnish hospitality – often at its best when it is spontaneous and informal. The furniture is designed to make everyone feel welcome, because a real celebration includes even the most unexpected guests.
