The Kori lamp series by Artek is designed by TAF Studio, where each design is based on a "light basket". Hence the name Kori = Finnish for "basket".
Artek presents the Kori Collection, a new lighting collection designed by TAF Studio from Stockholm. By combining a well thought-out modular design and a pure appearance, Kori brings a contemporary interpretation to the contemporary fusion of function and form.
The Kori Collection consists of five products - three hanging lamps, a floor lamp and a table lamp - all with their own specific qualities. Each lighting typology serves a different role to cover all basic lighting scenarios.
As expected from an Artek lamp, the Kori lamps emit both direct and indirect light, creating a cosy, welcoming mood lighting that imitates natural light: the soft glow emanating from the "basket" resembles the evening sun shining softly through the leaves.
The luminaires of this series are made in Italy, due to the use of a matte white powder-coated surface, it resembles porcelain. The lamps are designed to be durable and low maintenance, and all metal parts can be easily separated and recycled.
In the table lamp, the so-called "light basket" is turned upside down, resulting in a fixture that looks like a miniature lamppost or perhaps a small lighthouse guiding weary travelers home. The multifunctional table lamp emits both a direct upward and a diffused downward light over a larger area, making it suitable for a variety of applications from accent lighting to a reading lamp - place it on a shelf, sideboard, windowsill or on your bedside table.
