Lonna umbrella stand, oak.

This umbrella stand called Lonna was originally designed for a café on the island of Lonna off the coast of Helsinki.

The seemingly simple yet distinctive design of the Lonna umbrella stand is inspired by the rugged landscape and the old naval demagnetization station on the island.

The central element of Lonna is the T-shaped supporting structure that gives the collection a solid, geometric and yet light appearance. All pieces in the Lonna series are manufactured in Made By Choice's own factory in Halikko, Finland.

About the designer:

Katrín Ólína Pétursdóttir is an Icelandic industrial designer with a multidisciplinary approach to design. Her work has materialised in the fields of product design, fashion, interiors, furniture, jewellery, print, animation and writing. She has created large immersive graphic installations at the National Gallery in Oslo and the Reykjavik Art Museum and her pieces have transformed various private and public spaces in the hospitality industry.
