The "Rubbish" bin is an environmentally conscious version of the original Vipppedal bin, made from 75% recycled materials. Wood scraps from Vipp's table top production and plastic waste are reprocessed and converted into a new Vipp signature fiber material that shapes the outer box's casing.
To minimize the use of steel, the inner compartment of the bin is fitted with a metal ring for mounting waste bags to replace the standard galvanized inner bin.
The lid has a rubber ring that guarantees an airtight seal (no unpleasant odors). A rubber ring at the bottom ensures that your floor is protected.

The original pedal bin from Holger Nielsen was not designed in the strict traditional sense, but took its shape during the design process: a large base for stability, a dome-shaped steel lid on the top that is easy to clean, handles on the side for easy handling to move, and a rubber ring on the foot for floor protection.
About Maria Axelsen:
Marie Axelsen was born on June 30, 1916 in the small town of Randers, Denmark. She grew up across the street from the local hairdresser, where she spent her afternoons serving coffee and cookies to the ladies waiting for their 6 a.m. perm. Here she started an apprenticeship at the age of 14 and after completing her degree, she worked in Uppsala, Sweden to earn money that would help realize her dream of opening her own salon. Local dance teacher and metalsmith in Randers, Holger Nielsen, made Marie return to her roots in Randers in 1939 - the year she opened her own salon.
Marie stood out at a time when women were housewives. Starting your own business as a woman was unheard of in the 1930s. Nevertheless, Marie managed to combine family life with an entrepreneurial career by running her own hair salon in Randers with ten employees for 65 years until she retired at the age of 83.
