This wall lamp by Hay the Nelson Cigar Wall is a design by George Nelson. Hay re-introduced this series in collaboration with Herman Miller, this series of lamps were originally designed in 1950.
The rounded silhouette of the Nelson cigar wall lamp is made by spraying a clear plastic polymer over a steel wire frame, giving it a soft, diffused light that creates an inviting atmosphere in every room. The wall lamp has a stylish look that is suitable for different spaces in houses, cafes and offices.
The Nelson Cigar is part of a lighting series designed by George Nelson and produced by Herman Miller in the fifties. Nelson wanted to buy a comparable Swedish silk lamp, but instead opted to design his own version of the lamp himself to save time and money. The lamps in the collection are still produced in the same factory that they originally started producing in 1952.

About the designer:
George Nelson (1908–1986) was an American architect and designer who is considered as one of the greatest American designers of the mid-twentieth century. Nelson studied at Yale University and in Rome, where he became familiar with European architecture and design. After returning to the United States, Nelson started working at Herman Miller, where he quickly took the position of Design Director.
