Moooi x Royal Delft present a special collection: original Delft Blue tiles from the Extinct Animals collection by Moooi. Inspired by the enchanting illustrations from The Museum of Extinct Animals, eight unique ceramic tiles have been designed and handcrafted in the studio in Delft.

Each tile depicts an extinct animal species in fine Delft Blue and together they form an impressive and artistic collection. An ode to bygone beauty, captured in traditional craftsmanship and timeless design.

The life of the Dodo Pavone was like a dream come true. Imagine living on the exotic island of Mauritius for millions of years, walking peacefully through lush forests and along a crystal-clear sea. As the largest and strongest animal on the island, the Dodo Pavone lived in perfect harmony with its surroundings – as if it were the king of paradise.

He was never in a hurry. When he had to go somewhere, the whole family followed him quietly and swaying, curious and without fear. It is said that the first time a Dodo Pavone met a human, he staggered straight up to him without hesitation and even gave a little nod, as if to say "hello".

This gentle giant had soft, silvery plumage with subtle shades of gray, blue, beige and white. A fluffy pompom adorned his tail, which completed his charming appearance. His colorful, rounded beak was much admired by the first settlers, who even collected Dodo eggs and used them as vases for their precious tulips.
