Royal Delft Tile Extinct Animals, Golden Tiger.

Moooi x Royal Delft present a special collection: original Delft Blue tiles from the Extinct Animals collection by Moooi. Inspired by the enchanting illustrations from The Museum of Extinct Animals, eight unique ceramic tiles have been designed and handcrafted in the studio in Delft.

Each tile depicts an extinct animal species in fine Delft Blue and together they form an impressive and artistic collection. An ode to bygone beauty, captured in traditional craftsmanship and timeless design.

The Golden Tiger was spotted on every continent centuries ago – or so the legend goes. This friendly, but somewhat clumsy animal stood out because of its shiny golden fur and eyes. Its eyes in particular stuck with me: large, round and sparkling like liquid gold. Always curious and rarely sitting still, the Golden Tiger seemed to be constantly on the move. Perhaps that is why it was seen all over the world.

Although it came from a family of predators, the Golden Tiger had a surprisingly gentle nature and a preference for green leaves and yellow flowers. It is even said that a traveler once saw a Golden Tiger resting in the sun, surrounded by bluebirds and young deer – peacefully nestled against its golden fur.

The Golden Tiger made friends with everything and everyone. According to an old study, it was often unaware of its imposing appearance, which initially startled other animals. But if you looked into those big, friendly eyes for a moment, you would understand: this tiger was simply looking for friendship – in an almost childishly innocent way.

This tile is one of eight unique tiles from the Extinct Animals collection by Moooi x Royal Delft. The special tile, handmade in the studio in Delft, has a subtle hanging hook. This makes it easy to hang as a work of art – for example next to wall plates or other decorative elements.
